Gallery folders not being created

When uploading to a new album I receive the following error:

[2014-03-20 16:09:00] (ERROR @ /assets/components/gallery/connector.php) [Gallery] Could not create directory (possibly already exists?): img/gallery/65/

Gallery doesn't create the '65' folder. Permissions are correct. If I manually create the 65 folder via ftp, gallery will work as normal.

Using MODX 2.2.13, Gallery 1.6.2-beta1

Settings:
gallery.files_path: /img/gallery/
gallery.files_url: /img/gallery/

is this issue only reproducible with numeric folder names by any chance? in other words, is it reproducible with 'foo'?

The numeric folder names are generated by Gallery. How do I change when creating an Album?

Ah, I see. Nevermind then. If permissions are correct, it must be a bug.

Ok have narrowed down the issue and it is permission/owner based.

I use MODX advanced and have the core folder located above the web root. To get Gallery working I have to change the 'public_html' folder from '750' to '777'. It now generates the folders.

This bug exists in 1.6.1 as well. No issue with 1.5.3.

Ive just checked my install, the assets/gallery folder is set to apache ownership also at 775 as per the base settings in my MODx install.

I manually created the folder (65) and set it as apache:apache at 775 and cleared the log, uploaded a new image and got this in the log:

jut an FYI, i reverted my 2.2.13 install with gallery 1.6.1 back to 1.5.3 and I still get th ephpThumb error message above.

Steps to reproduce problem:

Create the Album (Album folder is not created)
Upload a picture (Picture isn't uploaded, but registered in the database - blank thumbnail)

Workaround:

Create the Album (Album folder is not created)
Upload a Cover Image (Album Folder is created (755), and cover.jpg is uploaded)
Upload a picture (Pictures is correctly uploaded, and corresponding thumbnail is created)

MODx - 2.2.14 pl
Gallery - 1.6.2 pl

I seem to be getting the same issue since upgrading to Gallery 1.6.2 and MODX 2.1.14 and adding cover photo didn't work. Gallery worked absolutely fine before hand and now my client is unable to create new albums and upload images to them. I have never experienced an permissions issues with my hosting environment.

I seem to have resolved this now - it was down to the wrong mediasource for the gallery.mediaSource. Now pointing to correct path and everything is working as it should again.

@crimsonpixel, I don't know why it now works for you, but the setting you mention for me only has one option I can choose on my system, „Filesystem“, „1“, where your screenshot shows „5“. I cannot input path there.

As I don't even need FTP or changing permission, I can create the folder, that Gallery is not able to create, just within MODX backend files panel, I still see this as a massive bug.

Is there any solution to it?

Looks like I'm having the same problem with MODX Revolution 2.5.7-pl en Gallery 1.7.0-pl. Can't seem to find a solution. Every time I want to upload a picture, the gallery generates an upload folder like C:\fakepath\image.jpg. I think the problem is over there?

I'm not an expert in coding, but I want to solve the problem for my client. He can't upload new pictures anymore to the gallery on his website.
