OrbitFetch understands the anatomy of modern web pages. It intelligently identifies the primary content — be it a YouTube video, a Substack article, a Twitter thread, or a PDF embedded behind a paywall — and extracts it with fidelity that rivals manual saving.
No more downloads/video_1234.mp4. OrbitFetch creates a semantic folder tree based on content type, source domain, and user-defined tags.

Drop a .txt file with 50 URLs, or pipe them from a bookmark export. OrbitFetch processes them sequentially, respecting rate limits and avoiding bans — no IP blacklists, no captchas.
Every artifact is accompanied by a .meta.json sidecar file containing:
- Original URL and timestamp
- Page title and description
- Author/source attribution
- Content hash for verification
The interface (and inline help) adapts to your $LANG environment. Currently supports English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Portuguese — with more on the way.

That’s it. The first run creates a default configuration in ~/.config/orbitfetch/ if one doesn’t exist — but you don’t need to touch it unless you want to customize output locations or proxy settings.

- Zero telemetry: OrbitFetch doesn’t call home. No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage statistics.
- Encrypted metadata: If you enable it, metadata files are AES-256-GCM encrypted with a key you provide.
- No external API keys: Unlike scrapers that require paid API keys, OrbitFetch works with public endpoints only.
