Fevga 2.8 - Forced moves play themselves
New switch in Settings › Play (on by default):
- Play forced moves for me — when a roll leaves only one possible move, it is played at once, with the same last-move arrows as the computer's moves, and the turn passes without pressing Done. Switch it off to play every move by hand.
Installs over earlier versions (same signing key). Android 6.0 or newer.

Fevga 2.7 - Quick move and auto-roll
Two new switches in Settings › Play (both off by default):
- Quick move — tap a checker and it moves at once with the higher die it can use (the smaller one if the higher is not legal for it). The next checker you tap gets the other die. No second click on a destination.
- Roll my dice automatically — your dice are thrown as soon as the computer has finished its move.
Also: the welcome screen links to the sibling games, Plakoto and Portes.
Installs over earlier versions (same signing key). Android 6.0 or newer.

Fevga 2.6
New rule: no six in a row in front of the opponent's start
You may not end a move holding the six points right in front of your opponent's starting point while he still has checkers there (for you: points 14–19, right in front of the computer's 13). As with the starting-quarter rule, only the position where the move ends counts, so a checker may pass through. Once his starting point is empty, the six is allowed. If you tap a checker the rule blocks, the game tells you why.
Also in this version
- Feedback card (Settings): notes stay in your browser; Copy all notes exports them.
- A refused step now ends the move instead of freezing the game.
- Strategy guide figures re-measured under the new rule.
Install
Download Fevga-2.6.apk below and open it on your Android phone. It is signed with the same key as 2.5, so it installs over it and keeps your games and settings. Saved .vbg games that contain a move the new rule forbids can no longer be imported.
Fevga 2.5
Fixed
- The game could freeze near the end. When only one die could be played and both dice would bear off the last checker (say a 3-5 with one checker on the 1-point), the computer picked the smaller die, the board refused it, and the computer's turn hung. Hint and Mr. Makis's demonstration had the same problem on your side. The move list now keeps the larger die, as the rules require.
test/legality.mjsnow replays every play the computer can choose from, and every play it actually makes, step by step through the same turn API the board uses. A wrong step list can no longer pass just because it reaches the right final position.
New since 2.3
- Winning chances (Settings > Display, off by default): a bar in the scoreboard with each side's chance to win and to win double, from 300 play-outs of the board at the start of each turn.
- Computer quits: end the game on the computer's behalf as a single or double win for you (double only while the computer has nothing off), the mirror of Admit loss.
- The menu buttons sit in an aligned three-column grid.
Android
Fevga-2.5.apk (versionCode 16) is signed with the same key as earlier releases, so it installs over them and keeps your settings, score and saved games.
Fevga 2.3
A bigger board on phones, a way to learn the game, and a livelier table. This release covers everything since 1.9.
- Board first in landscape: the board now fills the screen. A menu button and a mini scoreboard sit on the left, the move controls on the right, and everything else (level, colour, the full scoreboard, lamp, sound, dimmer) opens from ☰ as a drawer. Hint, Mr. Makis, Admit loss and Slam are behind a ⋯ button.
- Guided lessons: a Learn button opens eight short lessons on the real board, one rule each: the way round, the runner, no hitting, the larger die, doubles, the starting quarter, bearing off, and mars. Each one checks itself, and Show me plays the answer.
- Welcome screen on the first visit, with Play or Learn the rules first. Rules > About brings it back.
- Dice that tumble: each throw drops, bounces three times and settles on the face the roll chose.
- The computer's last move is shown as glowing arcs and rings for a few seconds (Settings > Display, on by default).
- Confetti when you win: more for a mars or a match. If your phone asks for reduced motion you get a calm, slow version instead.
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.9 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
Fevga 1.9
Landscape is easier to use on phones:
- Bigger board: the side strips are slimmer, so each point is about 27% wider. In landscape the level choice is in the ☰ menu and the sound button sits with the lamp and lock.
- The move buttons always fit: the full status message shows, and every button is the same comfortable height.
- Easier to touch: a bigger ☰ button and a full-width dimmer.
- Replays keep the board still: the replay controls take exactly the move buttons' place.
- Reset score asks for a second tap, so a stray touch can't wipe the score.
- Full screen in landscape: the status and navigation bars hide (swipe from the edge to see them); portrait keeps them.
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.8 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
Fevga 1.8
- Landscape: holding the phone sideways, the panels become two slim strips (menu, score and lamp on the left, the move buttons on the right) and the whole board is shown between them. Turning the phone re-frames the board without interrupting the game.
- Bigger dice on phones, about the size of a checker, and bigger dice symbols in the move bar.
- Drag to move: touch a glowing checker, slide it and lift your finger on the point where it should go: one die, both dice at once, or onto the tray to bear off. Anywhere else it slides back and stays picked up. Tapping a checker and then a point still works.
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.7 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
Fevga 1.7
- Fix: when every one of the computer's checkers was stuck right behind six of your points in a row (so your move had to open one of them), the board could highlight a destination that keeps the wall shut. Tapping it froze the turn. The board now offers only moves the rule allows.
- Rules audit: a new test (
test/legality.mjs) re-implements the Fevga rules independently and checks, for every roll in thousands of positions, that the moves the game offers are exactly the legal ones: nothing legal missing, nothing illegal allowed. - Includes 1.6's compact phone layout.
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.6 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
Fevga 1.6
- Compact phone layout: the top panel is one row (title, level, ☰ menu); colour, New game, Rules, Strategy, Settings, Games and Puzzles are in the menu.
- Slimmer scoreboard; the lamp, view lock and dimmer share one short row.
- The board is framed in the space between the panels at a steeper angle, so it is about 80% of the screen width instead of about 56%, and no panel covers it.
- The app no longer enlarges its text with the phone's system font size, which had made the panels wrap and cover the board.
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.5 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
Fevga 1.5
- Continue from here in the replay bar: play on from any position of a recorded game. You keep your colour, the computer takes the other side (and moves first if it was its turn).
- New setting: show the sum of the two dice in the move message (Settings > Display).
- Includes the 1.3 rules fix: the starting-quarter rule is judged at the end of a move, so one checker may pass over the last open point (1→3→5 with two 2s).
- Installs over 1.0 – 1.3 (same signing key) and keeps your games and settings.
