…brary headers public, and set public header install directory to BUILD_PRODUCTS_DIR so the path to the headers doesn't have to be hard coded by the including project.

In order to not have to include the absolute path in the static library's including project, I've updated the build settings to mostly follow what is recommended here: http://blog.carbonfive.com/2011/04/04/using-open-source-static-libraries-in-xcode-4/
I also added a .gitignore
