Kast 1.2.6
What's changed
- The TV shows the full length of the video. For files Kast converts on the fly (for example MKV), Chromecast devices showed the time played so far as the video length. Kast now writes the file's real length into the stream, so the TV shows the actual length.
- Quitting Kast stops a paused video on the TV. If the video on the TV was paused, it stayed on screen after quitting Kast. Kast now waits until the device confirms the stop before it closes.
Included libraries: mpv v0.41.0-1101-g5d85ba5fb, FFmpeg N-127213-g2da55bf59 (unchanged).

Kast 1.2.5
What's changed
- The TV shows the right time when casting resumes mid-video. When a video continued where it was stopped last time (or after seeking), Chromecast devices counted from 0:00 and showed only the remaining length for files Kast converts on the fly. The stream now carries the file's real times, so the TV shows the actual position and the full length; subtitles follow the same times.
Included libraries: mpv v0.41.0-1101-g5d85ba5fb, FFmpeg N-127213-g2da55bf59 (unchanged).

Kast 1.2.4
What's changed
- Casting online videos works again. Streams from
https://links (for example HLS videos from X/Twitter) failed on the device withLOAD_FAILED, because the included FFmpeg could not verify the server's certificate. Kast now hands it the Windows root certificates. - Quitting Kast stops casting. Closing Kast while casting used to leave the video playing on the TV; now playback on the device is stopped as well.
- Warning before quitting while casting. Closing the window during a cast session first asks whether to quit Kast and stop playback on the device. Without casting, Kast closes right away as before.
Included libraries: mpv v0.41.0-1101-g5d85ba5fb, FFmpeg N-127213-g2da55bf59 (unchanged).

Kast 1.2.2
What's fixed
- Styled (ASS/SSA) subtitles keep their look on the TV: when subtitles are burned into the picture while casting (DLNA and AirPlay), Kast used to force your own subtitle style onto ASS/SSA subtitles. Fonts, colours and sizes of signs and typesetting were lost, and text could end up far too small. They now look exactly as in the player. As before, the setting Also apply to styled (ASS) subtitles forces your style when you want it.

Kast 1.2.1
What's new
- Rotate picture (right-click menu, ⚙ menu or
R): turns a video that is sideways or upside down by 90° per step – on the PC and on the TV. The rotation is reset for every file. - Rotated phone videos show upright on the TV: videos that only store their rotation as information in the file (most phone videos) used to appear sideways or upside down on many TVs. Kast now turns them itself while casting.
- Stop button next to play: ends playback and returns to the start screen (the position is kept for resuming). While casting it turns into a cast symbol with a stop badge and ends casting.
- Next/previous while casting now switches the file on the TV, and at the end of a video the next file of the folder follows automatically (also on DLNA TVs).
- The window now takes the right shape for portrait and rotated videos.
- Notice for new libraries: the built-in update replaces
Kast.exeonly. If a release brings newerlibmpv-2.dll/ffmpeg.exe, the about window (ⓘ, orange dot) now says so and tells you to unpack the full package.
Included libraries: mpv v0.41.0-1101-g5d85ba5fb, FFmpeg N-127213-g2da55bf59.

Kast 1.1.0
What's new
- Prevent sleep while casting (Settings → Playback, on by default): while Kast is casting to a TV, Windows no longer goes to sleep after the idle timeout, which used to cut off the stream. The screen may still turn off; sleeping the PC on purpose (closing the lid, Start → Sleep) still works.
