Routes / Exit nodes
Problem or use case
As a person running a robust homelab connected to Netbird, I would like to be able to set an exit node to an external VPN service, like Mullvad because it's useful for browsing the internet but also having access to my Netbird services.
Proposed solution
An option to either a) connect a VPN provider or b) have an integrated VPN option in the client.
Alternatives or workarounds considered
Currently I manually disconnect my external VPN service, then connect to Netbird when I want to access my services. When I'm done, I disconnect from Netbird and connect back to my VPN service. While this works fine, it's kind of annoying and I forget a lot.
Another workaround is to have a server on the cloud (i.e: Hetzner) and set it as my exit node. While this works great for access, unfortunately data center IPs get blocked by many places and it also means needing to have a cloud server.
Community impact and priority
Examples from other tools or products
Tailscale Mullvad does this really well I feel. You purchase a subscription on the Tailscale website to Mullvad, and then it opens up as a feature on the client. Payments for the Mullvad feature are completely seperated from other plans. The only issue I have is the advanced Mullvad client features aren't really there, so for example I cannot use the Mullvad special features to get around Mainland China VPN block, for example.
Security, privacy, and compatibility considerations
Probably some legal considerations, and of course the VPN provider could have a data leak etc... as with anytime you integrate a 3rd party service with so much access.
