CollaboRhythm Technical Overview

CollaboRhythm is an open-source platform for patient-centered care research.

Thus far, the capabilities and features in CollaboRhythm have been focused on chronic disease management, with a specific focus on hypertension (prototype evaluation study conducted at Mayo in August 2011) and diabetes (for an upcoming study with the Joslin Diabetes Center).

    • Created CollaboRhythm
    • Designed and implemented medication scheduling and reporting features
  • Scott Gilroy, Software Developer at MIT Media Lab
    • Designed and implemented data visualization and simulation features
    • Created plugin architecture and app/widget system
  • Elliot Cohen
    • Indivo X server support and community liason
  • Frederick Young
    • Indivo X server support (December 2011 - present)

Timeline

John worked on a previous iteration of CollaboRhythm in 2008/2009 that was used for small scale study with HIV patients. Starting in 2010, John and Scott began work on the current version of CollaboRhythm.

Technologies

  • Flex/ActionScript 3 (for the UI)
  • Java and Android API (for connecting to medical devices on Android phones/tablets)
  • Flash Media Server (for real-time collaboration and video streaming)
  • Indivo X (personally controlled health record system; used as the back-end for CollaboRhythm)
