As part of a discovery into building a native NHS App, the team have been exploring using start pages at the beginning of core transactional journeys (such as booking an appointment and requesting a prescription).

Using start pages in a consistent way, when users are about to enter a transactional journey, may help them understand where they are and what is about to happen.
At the same time, we need to make sure the content on these screens is valuable for users, and giving them the information they need at the right time.
Research
The app team have introduced start pages into the current app when users start their journey into certain third-party integrations. These pages have followed the NHS Service Manual start page pattern and have worked well.
