The Windows installer isn't signed yet, so Windows may warn you: choose More info, then Run anyway.

On Debian and similar, run this in the folder with the file:

sudo apt install ./CapriDesktop-1.0.3.deb python3-venv zstd xdotool wmctrl playerctl

On other distributions, extract the .tar.gz, install python3, xdotool, wmctrl and playerctl with your package manager, and run capridesktop. Use an X11 session. If it refuses to start because of the sandbox, your system needs unprivileged user namespaces enabled.

Updating

  • Windows, from 1.0.2: ask her to update.
  • Windows, from 1.0.0 or 1.0.1: install this one by hand once, because the self-update in those versions can fail. It installs over your current version and keeps your data.
  • Linux, from any earlier version: install this one by hand once. From here on she updates herself.

What's new

Opening apps

  • She opens any installed app: ask for Blender, the Epic Games Store or whatever you have.
  • If she can't find it, she tells you and a window lets you pick its file. She remembers it for next time.
  • She understands more ways of asking, like "abrí blender".
  • She tells you when she couldn't open something, instead of saying she did.
  • Names are no longer confused: Obsidian doesn't open OBS, and Google Earth doesn't open the browser.

Linux

  • She updates herself and comes back. A .deb asks for your password through your desktop's prompt; a .tar.gz doesn't need one as long as you can write to its folder. If she can't do it on your system, she opens this page.
  • Fixed the .deb not starting on Ubuntu 24.04 systems with no sound library installed, where apt could pick an incompatible one.

Updates

  • Downloads are checked against the checksum published with the release.

Cyberpunk 2077 mod
