Install older NVDA on newer one

For a specific development, I need to test a personal NVDA build based on latest alpha.

When I am done, I want to downgrade to NVDA 2026.3, or to latest beta if there are new beta releases in the meantime.

I plan to save my NVDA config folder for test and restore it afterwards to avoid to have an upgraded config. Is there something other to pay attention to?

If I restore my config afterwards, do I still need to uninstall the latest alpha before reinstalling 2026.3? If yes, why?

This process is probably safe, but it's not something we support actively
