Implement memcache support

I am not sure this nice wrapper class is still maintained, but, just in case, 
could you implement the optional support of caching via memcached?

I'm changing this ticket to an enhancement request.

Since adding memcached support requires the use of an external library it may 
not be wise to roll this into the base code which just relies on base PHP 5+ 
functionality. I'll review it some more though since this would actually be 
handy for a project I'm working on.
