Oink 0.3.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Nov 11:29

Oink 0.3.3 improves audio forwarding, adds audio quality options and fixes several keyboard, mouse and clipboard issues.

New

  • Choose the quality of forwarded audio in Settings: Smooth, Quality or Lossless.
  • Clicking with a mouse that is in local mode now brings control back to that computer.
  • Pointer shortcuts can now move the pointer to screens hidden in the layout.
  • If another app is using Oink's network port, Oink now switches to another port automatically.
  • On a Mac, files of up to 16 MB in total copied on another computer are fetched in advance, so pasting them is faster.

Fixes

  • Fixed the "Open the Oink window" shortcut not being shown in Settings.
  • Fixed Shift sometimes switching WeChat Input Method between Chinese and English on a Mac controlled from another device.
  • Fixed some keys sometimes staying pressed when a Windows keyboard controls another device.
  • Fixed the pitch of forwarded audio rising and falling every few seconds on Wi-Fi.
  • Fixed playback on one device being paused repeatedly when several devices forward audio at the same time.
  • Fixed images copied on a Mac showing no preview in Windows clipboard history (Win+V).
  • Fixed Macs failing to connect over Tailscale.
  • Oink uses less CPU when idle on Mac and Windows.

Compatibility

  • 0.3.3 works with 0.3.0 and later.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11.

Oink 0.3.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Nov 20:25

Oink 0.3.2 lets you use Oink at the Windows sign-in screen and fixes several bugs that could get in the way.

New

  • Use Oink at the Windows sign-in screen: when Launch at login is on, your other devices can also control the sign-in screen that appears after Windows starts.
  • "Take the foreground when the pointer leaves" on Windows is now off by default. You can turn it back on in Settings.

Fixes

  • Fixed keys typed on a Windows computer not reaching the other computer after the pointer moved there when "Take the foreground when the pointer leaves" was on; an input method box could appear on the Windows computer instead.
  • Fixed images dragged from another computer into Chrome and other browsers on Windows failing to load.
  • Fixed a Mac sometimes staying offline until Oink was restarted, after macOS stopped Oink's network connection (for example, when VPN or security software changed network settings).
  • Fixed apps opened on Windows while the pointer was on another computer losing focus or minimizing (for example, fullscreen games) when the pointer came back.
  • Fixed a newly paired computer or newly connected screen sometimes being hidden in the layout until you showed it manually.
  • Fixed Oink's background process crashing on Windows when starting some drags.
  • When Oink's background process fails to start on Windows, Oink now shows the reason and exit code.

Compatibility

  • 0.3.2 works with 0.3.0 and later.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11.

Oink 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 11:21

Oink 0.3.1 adds a shortcut to lock a remote Windows computer, a choice of how mouse wheel scrolling is forwarded and a foreground option for games and other apps that read physical input, and fixes Win+L, Caps Lock, pointer, gesture, audio and connection issues.

New

  • Lock a remote Windows computer: on Windows, press Win+Shift+L to lock the Windows computer the pointer is on. Win+L still locks the computer you are using. Turn it on or off in Settings → Shortcuts.
  • Forward mouse wheel events by lines (Settings → Input, on by default): the remote computer scrolls the same number of lines as this one. Turn it off to send wheel notches so the remote computer applies its own scroll settings. If scrolling misbehaves in some apps or games, turn it off.
  • Take the foreground when the pointer leaves (Windows, Settings → Input, on by default): stops games and other apps that read physical input from also responding on this computer while you control another one.
  • Hold Command and press the brightness or keyboard backlight keys to adjust the Mac you are controlling.

Fixes

  • Fixed Win+L locking both computers when a Windows computer controls another Windows computer.
  • Fixed Right Shift not reaching other computers from some Windows keyboards.
  • Fixed Caps Lock not switching case on a locked Mac.
  • Fixed a pointer staying visible on both Macs after moving the pointer between them.
  • Fixed native multi-finger gestures on Windows sometimes turning into mapped shortcuts.
  • Fixed mouse wheel scrolling on Windows being split into partial notches, which some games ignored.
  • Fixed a Windows speaker showing as unavailable after the audio driver was reinstalled or updated.
  • Fixed two computers in the same group sometimes never connecting to each other.
  • Nearby devices no longer change order while the list updates.

Compatibility

  • 0.3.1 works with 0.3.0. The remote lock shortcut and the Win+L fix need 0.3.1 on the Windows computers involved. Remote computers still on 0.3.0 keep scrolling by lines even when line forwarding is off.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later. Developer ID signed and notarized.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen runtime (preinstalled on current Windows).

Known limitations

  • The Windows MSI is not code-signed in this release. SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": choose More info → Run anyway. UAC shows an unknown publisher.
  • Receiving files on a Mac requires the Oink File Provider location to be enabled; if prompted, enable it in Settings → Permissions.
  • Windows users on 0.2.1 need to install the 0.2.2 bridge update before the in-app update can install 0.3.1.

Oink 0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Oct 10:09

Oink 0.3.0 adds microphone sharing, finer touchpad and pointer-lock controls, upgrading from a local installer and a new way of receiving files, and improves audio, pairing and screen layout.

New

  • Share a computer's microphone with your other computers.
  • When controlling Windows with a Mac touchpad, choose native multi-finger gestures and Mac-style two-finger scrolling independently.
  • Set a shortcut that moves the pointer straight to each computer. Hold the configurable escape key to move the pointer off a locked screen temporarily; the lock stays in place when you return.
  • Drop a downloaded DMG or MSI into Oink to upgrade from a local installer.
  • Rebuilt cross-device dragging and file copying to work with more apps, with improved file transfer and storage.

Changes

  • Mixed-version groups: 0.3.0 and 0.2.x computers can still share keyboard, mouse and audio. Clipboard sharing, file copying and file dragging require both computers to run 0.3.0. Upgrade all your computers; a normal upgrade does not require pairing again.

Fixes

  • Fixed held keys such as Tab and modifier keys being released unexpectedly during remote control, and improved input release and pointer restoration after switching computers or cancelling a drag.
  • Improved audio continuity during silent gaps, delayed delivery, output device changes and reconnection.
  • Fixed a "prepared peer lost" error when pairing again right after the first pairing, and improved pairing after a reset and reconnection within a device group.
  • Fixed layout changes that had already been applied being rejected as busy when re-sent after a restart.
  • Fixed Windows mirrored displays being reported as an unreadable system arrangement. Arrangement changes now move a mirrored group together and keep it mirrored.

Windows skips symbolic links that point to other items in the same transfer; supported Mac-to-Mac transfers keep them.
  • Windows users on 0.2.1 need to install the 0.2.2 bridge update before the in-app update can install 0.3.0.
  • Downgrading to 0.2.x is not supported once the new received-file store is in use.

Oink 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Oct 10:54

Oink 0.2.1 improves screen arrangement, audio controls and game mode, fixes file dragging and saved layouts, and makes uninstalling more reliable.

New

  • Adjust a screen's remote pointer speed directly from its context menu.
  • Volume changes apply while you drag the slider. The sidebar speaker icon shows local output volume and mute state.

Changes

  • Auto-compact moves each computer's screens together without changing their internal arrangement, preserves exact screen contacts, and leaves overlapping computer bounds in place.
  • Pausing Oink, using the emergency release shortcut or restarting Oink re-enables disabled keyboards and mice together.
  • Quit from the tray or menu bar menu now exits directly without a confirmation dialog.
  • Clearer permission guidance and status: computers without Accessibility access are marked and hidden from the layout until access is granted.
  • Windows uninstall now quits Oink gracefully and removes the uninstalling user's Oink data by default. Upgrades preserve data.

Fixes

  • Fixed the main window sometimes not appearing when Oink is opened.
  • Fixed saved layouts getting stuck syncing or not merging correctly when joining a group.
  • Game mode stays enabled when the pointer leaves a computer and returns. Automatic detection responds faster, and moving between computers no longer produces false game-mode notices.
  • Fixed file drags through multiple computers, duplicate drag items and delays when preparing a drag. Improved release of the source mouse button.
  • Fixed received files appearing under the wrong source computer or with incorrect dates.
  • Fixed device controls sometimes rejecting clicks after their state changed, and visual seams and focus outlines in the layout.
  • Fixed temporary permission and screen-information states being reported as failures.
  • Mac uninstall cleans up File Provider data more reliably.
  • Restored the Windows Uninstall entry. Uninstall completes even if some leftover data cannot be removed.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later. Developer ID signed and notarized.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen runtime (preinstalled on current Windows).

Oink 0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 21:21

Oink 0.2.0 adds saved layouts, received-file management, screen hiding and mouse disabling, redesigns the device menu and tray menu, and fixes a number of pointer and trackpad issues.

New

  • Saved layouts: save multiple screen layouts and switch between them at any time.
  • Received-file management: files copied or dragged from other computers are saved in folders by source computer and time. In Settings you can see how much space they use, open the folder, and set up automatic cleanup.
  • Hide individual screens: you can hide a single screen. A hidden screen isn't connected to other screens, and the pointer can't enter or leave it across its edges.
  • Disable the mouse: you can disable a device's mouse, both for controlling the device itself and for controlling other devices.
  • Redesigned device menu and sidebar: UI improvements.
  • Native tray menu: the menu opened by clicking or right-clicking the menu bar or tray icon is now a native system menu, for better performance.
  • Clipboard: new Receive and Sync master switches.
  • Windows: new setting "Forward input injected by other apps"; added shortcuts mapped from Mac trackpad gestures (when native contact injection is off); Oink no longer moves the pointer out when a game or another app confines it to a window.
  • Layout page: improved screen projections and a better experience on devices with multiple displays.
  • Audio diagnostics: improved display of audio diagnostics.

Fixes

  • Fixed the pointer sometimes not entering the adjacent computer when moving down from the edge of a Mac's external display.
  • Fixed an occasional extra "ghost finger" when controlling Windows with a Mac trackpad.
  • Fixed copied files that couldn't be pasted after updating on a Mac.
  • Fixed input in one direction occasionally never working after two computers connect.
  • Fixed pointer motion being repeated at the start of a drag.
  • Fixed doubled and flickering selection and dashed outlines on Mac.
  • The full-screen notice on Windows no longer shows a busy cursor on hover.
  • Devices without usable audio no longer show a volume slider.
  • Saving a diagnostics package is faster.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later. Developer ID signed and notarized.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen runtime (preinstalled on current Windows).

Oink 0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 05:15

Oink 0.1.4 adds Mac-style scrolling on Windows, refines auto-compact and fixes a drag-and-drop issue.

New

  • New Windows setting "Emulate Mac trackpad scrolling": when a Mac trackpad controls the PC, two-finger scrolling feels like it does on the Mac.
  • Auto-compact now moves only the computer you just adjusted and stops where it touches another computer; hidden screens no longer affect the layout.

Fixes

  • Fixed files not dragging to another computer from the bottom edge of a Mac's external display.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later. Developer ID signed and notarized.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen runtime (preinstalled on current Windows).

Oink 0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 01:19

Oink 0.1.3 improves screen arrangement, in-app updates and audio diagnostics.

New

  • Gaps between screens now close up only after you move or resize a screen yourself; a new toolbar button turns this off.
  • Diagnostics has a new audio quality chart showing buffer, bitrate and dropouts per device over the last minute, with each dropout marked on the chart.
  • On Windows without native touchpad input support, multi-finger gestures fall back to standard shortcuts and the touchpad setting is hidden.

Fixes

  • Fixed offline screens being hard to see in dark mode.
  • Fixed the settings page background and content appearing at different times.
  • Fixed pairing on Windows sometimes failing to finish when the computer is busy.
  • Fixed a rare case where audio forwarding could fail to start or restore muting.
  • Windows updates now clean up their downloaded files after installing.

Downloads

  • Mac: the .dmg file — Apple silicon, macOS 14.2 or later. Developer ID signed and notarized.
  • Windows: the .msi file — x64, Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) or later, or Windows 11. Requires the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen runtime (preinstalled on current Windows).
