SEO
oCMS provides built-in SEO tools for optimizing your site for search engines.
Each page supports custom SEO fields:
- Title — Custom page title (defaults to page title if not set)
- Description — Meta description for search engine snippets
- Keywords — Meta keywords (comma-separated)
- Canonical URL — Set canonical URL to avoid duplicate content issues
- NoIndex — Prevent search engines from indexing a specific page
- NoFollow — Prevent search engines from following links on a page
Full support for social media sharing optimization:
- og:title — Social sharing title
- og:description — Social sharing description
-
og:image — The page's own social image if set (its original file when it has no variants), otherwise its featured image, using the 1200x630
ogvariant when present, thenlarge, thenmedium; without either, the site's default OG image (see Media Library) - Twitter Card — Automatic Twitter Card meta tags
Language homepages emit WebSite JSON-LD with the localized site name and description and the configured root site URL. No SearchAction is advertised. Published content retains Article metadata and adds BreadcrumbList. Blog, category and tag archives emit BreadcrumbList alone.
Posts show Home → Blog → Post. Static pages and category/tag archives show Home → Current page. Labels follow the content language. Pagination keeps the same trail and uses the current canonical destination; a page canonical override also becomes its structured destination.
New schemas require site_url to be an HTTP(S) origin without credentials,
query, fragment or subdirectory. Invalid origins omit them. Draft previews
retain their existing Article metadata only; search, form and error pages do
not receive new schemas. JSON-LD stays in one CSP nonce-bearing script.
The default, developer, starter and fallback renderers include accessible
visible trails. Custom HTML themes can render .Breadcrumbs and
.BreadcrumbLabel; see Theme-System.
Validate posts and archives with Google's Rich Results Test, and homepage WebSite data with the Schema Markup Validator.
An XML sitemap is auto-generated at /sitemap.xml:
- Includes language homepages, published pages that are not marked NoIndex, and category and tag archives
- Leaves out pages, categories and tags in inactive languages
- Automatically updated when content changes
- Cached for performance (see Caching)
- Answers 503 until the site URL is configured
Public post subscriptions are available at /rss.xml and /atom.xml, with
category/tag scopes and active-language prefixes. Themes advertise site and
contextual subscriptions through <link rel="alternate"> discovery links.
NoIndex remains an indexing directive; Exclude from lists removes a post
from subscriptions. See Feeds for endpoint and content rules.
Configurable robots.txt at /robots.txt:
- Automatically references the sitemap URL
- Configurable via site settings
- Emits a
Content-Signal:directive declaring AI usage preferences — see Agent-Ready
For multi-language sites, hreflang tags are automatically generated:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="https://example.com/about-us">
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="ru" href="https://example.com/ru/about-us">
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="x-default" href="https://example.com/about-us">See Multi-Language for setting up languages.
The application includes security headers by default:
- Content-Security-Policy (CSP)
- Strict-Transport-Security (HSTS)
- X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN
- X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff
- Referrer-Policy: strict-origin-when-cross-origin
See Security for more details.
