Egress cost?

Hi!

I'm planning to write a tutorial about creating a self-hosted full-fledged local mapping installation. I have a question about the s3://osm-pds bucket. Is it free for you? The AWS egress is expensive and the last thing I want is for people downloading the whole planet if you have to pay that cost.

I think there are public AWS mirrors now?

The osm-pds bucket is part of OSM's public data infrastructure. AWS foots the bill for it. https://registry.opendata.aws/osm/
