Hi everyone,
I am Soumyaranjan Sahoo, a pre-final year engineering student. I am incredibly excited about the possibility of contributing to OpenVINO for GSoC 2026!
My primary focus is on applied Computer Vision and Medical AI. I have spent the last year developing end-to-end diagnostic models, including PneumoScanAI (an automated CNN pipeline for X-ray classification) and Derma-Vision, where I focused heavily on artifact restoration and Wiener filtering to improve melanoma prediction. I also have experience deploying multi-model architectures, such as parallel-processed deepfake detection systems using EfficientNet.
I am very interested in OpenVINO's focus on accelerating model inference, particularly how edge computing can be leveraged for real-time diagnostic tools. I am proficient in Python and building custom REST APIs (Flask) to serve ML models.
I am currently reviewing the OpenVINO documentation and the 2026 project ideas list. While I get my local build environment set up, could anyone point me toward the "Good First Issues" board, particularly any beginner-friendly Python tasks related to computer vision or model optimization?
Looking forward to collaborating with you all!
