Early Years Foundation Stage Profile: demographics/quality and alignment with birth records and KS1 outcomes.

I have noticed that there seem to be issues with the potential quality of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) particularly on basic demographics (e.g. sex, or month of birth) compared to the KS1 demographics for the same children.
My questions are:

1. Has anybody else noticed this and do you have an understanding of why this might be?
2. My plan is to include sex, month of birth from the HES-APC and NPD KS1 records (which do match). Would that be most appropriate?

Hi Amanda sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this!

I'm not aware of anyone who has compared demographics between EYFSP and KS1. Have you exported (and therefore are able to share) how frequently this seems to be happening, or if it is restricted to specific years of data?

I think your plan to use demographics where they match between HES and KS1 seems sensible, at least for variables that you wouldn't expect to change over time like month of birth.
