audacious 4.6 release

Hello guys! When do we expect the next audacious release approximately? Thank you for this wonderful music player!

First we will release a 4.6-beta version, probably in March. After some weeks of testing April should then be feasible.

What feature of Audacious 4.6 are you looking/waiting for the most?

For me, the most essential is the filebrowser plugin. It's the missing piece in my opinion. Thank you again.

Likely in May. After my vacations I will prepare the beta release (early May), the final release will follow a few weeks later.

I can look into the build type and missing plugins for the final release. And yes, the new "native" Qt theme has issues here too. That is not something I can fix. The built-in "dark" theme based on https://github.com/jlindgren90/old-style-theme is fine.

The border issue seems to be yet another Qt regression but is fixed in Qt 6.11.1. Unfortunately MSYS2 is still providing version 6.11.0.

When will version 4.6 be available in the official Arch Linux repository?

How should we know that? The package is flagged out-of-date already. Now the Arch Linux package maintainers are responsible to update it.

The current problem is that Audacious has no package maintainer anymore for Arch Linux. I have opened a thread in their forum.

Will there be future plans for the File Browser to inherit Winamp Skins?

What do you mean with "inherit"? To make the file browser show .wsz / .zip files and allowing to install them? Please elaborate.

Sure, thanks. Audacious has no problem in reading the .wsz files in its Skins folder. I can easily select them in the Skin dropdown menu after selecting the Winamp Classic interface. The issue is that the skin is only reflected on the 3 main elements (NowPlaying, EQ, and Playlist), but not the File Browser. The File Browser keeps its standard interface after I apply the skin. The reason I ask is because the original Winamp and the re-amp player for mac do apply the skin to the File Browser, treating it as a 4th sibling to the NowPlaying/EQ/Playlist.

OK, now I got it. Implementing this would probably take a huge effort. Basically rewriting the plugin for the Winamp interface, extending it with more features and last but not least making it use the skins user interface. So no, unfortunately there are no plans to do that.
