Forward to Email confusion

Hey, I am a bit lost on how to configure forward to email.
At the moment, I am not receiving any forwarded emails but am able to send emails via SMTP just fine.

Info about my setup:
Chatwoot is hosted in AWS.

• is on a subdomain like chatwoot.website.com
• the primary domain has an mail server hosted already. MX record looks like website.com -> mail.website.com
• I added a MX record for chatwoot. it looks like chatwoot.website.com -> chatwoot.website.com

1. Do I have to configure email Conversation continuity and cloud storage in order to receive emails via forwarding?
2. Am I setting up the MX records correctly? Do I even need to mess with MX records?
3. Do I need to open any ports?
4. Do I need to setup postfix to receive emails?
5. Does the already setup mail server interfere with chatwoot?
6. Do I need to do anything in the nginx proxy?

I am defiantly doing/understanding something wrong here.
Please let me know how do I properly configure email forwarding.
