This is usually a visual sync error or a background indexing spike rather than a permanent loss of your quota.

The percentage in the chat UI can sometimes lag or glitch out. Go to your GitHub Settings > Billing and plans > Plans and usage to see your actual remaining balance. If it looks correct there, the issue is just with the IDE plugin.

To fix the UI, sign out of the Copilot extension in your IDE, restart the application, and sign back in. This forces a fresh handshake with GitHub's servers. Also, check if you have Copilot Workspace or any "Agent" mode open in another tab; these can index an entire repository in the background, which might have momentarily drained your "fast" request limit in one big burst.
