Hi everyone,

I have been having issues with the application for the student benefits, I am in the need to use the GitHub Copilot to study for an exam and better manage my uni projects for my various courses. I tried completing my account with as many information as possible, I am using my university domain email and even tried to send the application from the campus network. For my application I tried using both my student it, that has both my first, last name, student number and validity date, but it did not get accepted and I also tried using a bank statement from my university, but it also got rejected. Can someone help me get the student benefits? I am in desperate need. Thanks in advance to everyone that replies.

Yo @CesarePitruzzella — if you’ve tried both the ID and the bank statement and got rejected, it’s likely an issue with the third-party database (SheerID), not your documents.
Sometimes specific universities or regions just aren't syncing correctly with their system. Since manual reviews are paused, you can't really argue the rejection.
Your only real move is to wait a few weeks and try again. Unfortunately, if the automated system says no, there’s no "override" button available right now. It sucks when you need it for exams, but you're at the mercy of the verification bot.

From what you described, the problem is most likely with verification, not your account info. GitHub usually rejects documents if they don’t clearly prove current enrollment.

A few things to fix:

• Make sure your document is an official enrollment certificate or student ID that clearly shows:

  • your full name
  • university name
  • a valid/current date

• Bank statements usually don’t work, even if they’re from the university.

• If your student ID doesn’t show a validity date clearly, it often gets rejected.

Try uploading a clearer, well-lit image or PDF of an official enrollment letter from your university portal if possible.

Also, Copilot has a free trial, so you can use that temporarily while your application gets approved.
