Repeated duplicate GitHub Education notification emails for old account @zhizhimin6

Hi everyone,

Hi GitHub Education Community,

I am no longer applying for GitHub Education with the old GitHub account @zhizhimin6, and I no longer use that account.

However, I am still receiving repeated GitHub Education notification emails related to the old @zhizhimin6 account.

Some emails say that my academic affiliation could not be verified, and some emails ask me to reverify my current academic affiliation. They are being sent repeatedly throughout the day.

These appear to be duplicate unwanted notifications. I do not want to receive any more GitHub Education application or reverification emails related to @zhizhimin6.

I have already submitted a GitHub Support ticket about this issue, but the duplicate emails are still being sent.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any way to stop repeated GitHub Education notification emails for an old unused account?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The emails are alternating between two types:

1. “Unable to verify your academic affiliation” emails related to the old application submitted on Jan 31, 2026.
2. “Please reverify your current academic affiliation” emails.

They are not just repeated deliveries of one email. They look like separate GitHub Education notification emails being sent repeatedly throughout the day.

I received about 20 duplicate GitHub Education notification emails today, and many similar emails yesterday as well.

I no longer use the old GitHub account @zhizhimin6, and I am not trying to continue that Education application. I only want the repeated Education notification emails related to that old account/application to stop.

I have already added screenshots and updated my existing GitHub Support ticket with this information.
