New Copilot Pro+ Billing: Cost Has Jumped More Than 20 Times

I’m extremely disappointed with Copilot Pro+’s new billing model.
In the past, a regular question with GPT-5.5 used only 1% of my monthly credits, around $0.40, even when I let the AI run without interruption. Now, just one simple query that lasted 3 minutes — and I manually stopped it halfway — ate up 5% of my total quota, costing roughly $3.3. The cost has increased by at least 20 times.
What’s worse, if I work on complex tasks that take 1 to 5 hours to process, my entire $39 monthly credit allowance could be exhausted by a single question. In such cases, the cost surge would range from 10 times to as high as 10,000 times compared to before. This billing scheme is completely unreasonable and makes the service practically unusable.
I have attached the partial screenshots of my credit consumption record below. This huge charge was generated by only one single question, and the screenshot does not show the full record. It clearly proves how abnormal the current deduction mechanism is. I sincerely hope the official team will investigate and fix this severe billing anomaly.

I agree that the cost is unpredictable, but what matters more is that this extreme credit deduction is totally unreasonable and unnecessary.
My single brief query on GPT-5.5 cost me $3.3 in credits, over 20 times higher than before, even after I manually terminated the response halfway. Worse still, complex tasks running 1 to 5 hours would burn up the entire $39 monthly quota in one go.
It is worth noting that no other mainstream AI development tools have such problematic billing rules. Tools like Cursor, Claude, Codex and Kimi all adopt fair and transparent charging mechanisms. Their consumption is stable, controllable and affordable for regular users.
With the current pricing, I can only use the service for around 20 queries at most. One single long-running task could even lead to overage charges and leave me with extra fees to pay.
I sincerely urge GitHub to revise the current billing policy as soon as possible. I will stop using Copilot for now and switch to alternative AI tools. I will consider coming back only after you launch a new and reasonable billing plan.
