Hi there ...

as you can see i have managed to sent email using the subdomain provided by github ... but i can't get any reply without having proper records .. can you guys let me ? or it's not possible ?

Here is a breakdown of why this is not possible and what you can do instead to achieve your goal:

Why it isn't possible on github.io

The github.io domain is entirely owned and managed globally by GitHub. When you use GitHub Pages, GitHub only provides a shared infrastructure to route web traffic (HTTP/HTTPS) to your static site via their nameservers. Because you do not own the base zone file for github.io, you cannot add personal DNS records—such as Mail Exchanger (MX) records—which are required to receive incoming emails.

While it is technically possible to forge an outbound mail header to look like it came from a github.io address, email providers will block or ignore replies to it because no valid inbound mail servers exist for your specific username subdomain.

How to solve this (The Professional Way)

If you want to receive and manage emails using a professional domain while still hosting your website for free on GitHub Pages, you need to use a Custom Domain.

1. Buy a Cheap Domain: Purchase a personal domain from a registrar (like Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, etc.).
2. Configure Custom Email: Set up a mail forwarding service or an inbox provider (like Google Workspace, Zoho Mail, or Resend) on your registrar's DNS settings using MX records.
3. Link it to GitHub Pages:
   • Go to your GitHub repository settings -> Pages.
   • Under Custom domain, type your new domain name and save it.
   • Point your registrar's DNS settings (CNAME or A records) to GitHub's server IPs.

By using your own domain, you gain full control over both your web traffic on GitHub and your email infrastructure!
