Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Community,

I'm reaching out regarding an issue with my GitHub Copilot access under the GitHub Education benefit.

Issue Summary:
My GitHub Copilot for Education was previously activated and working as expected. However, I recently noticed that my access has been reverted to the GitHub Copilot Free tier, even though my GitHub Education offer is still valid for another 6 months.

What I expected:
Continued access to GitHub Copilot under my active GitHub Education benefit without any interruption.

What actually happened:
My plan was unexpectedly downgraded to the Free tier despite the offer being valid and no changes made on my end.

Steps already taken:

• Verified that my GitHub Education offer is still active and has ~6 months remaining
• Checked my Copilot settings and confirmed the downgrade

Could someone from the team please look into this and help restore my GitHub Copilot access as per my active Education offer?

Thanks for the details, this sounds like a sync or entitlement issue with your GitHub Education benefit.

A few quick things you can try:

Go to your GitHub Education page and re-verify your student status if prompted
Check if Copilot is enabled under Settings → Copilot after re-login
Sign out and sign back into VS Code / GitHub to refresh entitlements

If everything still shows your Education offer as active but Copilot remains on the Free tier, this is something only GitHub Support can fix from the backend, so I’d recommend raising a support ticket with your account details.
