I could have a 20-30 prompts deep agentic chat session. and it gets annoying to scroll around to find that one thing or that piece of information you had asked to clarify earlier. adding a search for words just like cursor and many other tools have would be great.

Totally agree, this is a pain point especially in long agentic sessions. Until GitHub adds native search, a few workarounds that help:

Ctrl+F on desktop browser still searches visible rendered text in the page
Summarize the session — ask the agent "summarize all key decisions/code snippets from this session" at checkpoints
Copy to a doc periodically for long sessions

That said, a dedicated in-session search (like Cursor's) would be a huge UX win. Upvoting this — especially useful when debugging across 20+ turns where context gets buried.

1. The Browser / IDE Default: If you are in a web browser, standard Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F on Mac) usually grabs the chat text. If you are in a VS Code-based extension, clicking inside the chat pane and hitting Ctrl + F sometimes scopes the search to that window, depending on how the extension is built.

2. Ask Me to Fetch It: Since I retain the context of our current session, you can always just ask me to retrieve the information. A prompt like, "What was the explanation you gave earlier about the authentication middleware?" or "Can you repeat that exact terminal command from about 10 prompts ago?" will usually get you the exact snippet without any scrolling required.

Hopefully, a dedicated search bar gets added to your UI soon!
