Copilot in GitHub
Body
I upgraded my GitHub Copilot subscription from GitHub Pro to Pro+, and then to Copilot Max, expecting the upgraded plan features and usage limits to take effect immediately. However, despite being charged for the upgraded subscription plans, my account does not appear to have received the full benefit of the upgraded plan structure.
The specific issue is with my AI credit usage reset. My understanding is that upgrading to a higher Copilot plan should reflect the included AI credit allowance associated with that upgraded plan. Instead, my account appears to still be carrying over the exhausted usage state from my prior GitHub Pro plan.
Current account display shows:
Plan: Copilot Max
Included credits: 20,000 / 20,000 AI credits
Reset date: Jun 30, 2026
Additional usage: $246.15 / $250 budget
Additional usage: Enabled
This is creating an urgent billing issue. I upgraded specifically to avoid being constrained by the lower plan’s exhausted usage limits, yet I am now being pushed into additional usage charges even after paying for the upgraded subscription.
I need GitHub Support or the Copilot billing/product team to review this immediately and clarify the following:
Why did my AI credit usage not reset or properly reflect the upgraded Copilot Max plan at the time of upgrade?
Why am I being charged additional usage after upgrading, if the upgraded plan includes a higher AI credit allowance?
Can the additional usage charges tied to the prior exhausted plan state be reviewed, paused, reversed, or credited?
Can my Copilot Max plan features and AI credits be corrected immediately so the account reflects the plan I am currently paying for?
This appears to be either a billing synchronization issue or an upgrade entitlement issue. Either way, I should not be charged for higher-tier plans while still being financially impacted by the exhausted limits of the previous lower-tier plan.
Please escalate this to the appropriate Copilot billing or subscription team. This needs urgent review because my additional usage budget is nearly exhausted at $246.15 out of $250, and continued charges may result from a plan transition that did not apply correctly.
