Hi everyone,

The Education Benefits Application page is frozen with Getting location... .

I tried with Brave browser on my computer as well as phone.

Then followed this thread - Reapplying to Github Education: "Error getting location. Try again?" #163425, and tried with Chrome, both from computer, as well as from phone.

Also tried with mobile phone network and switched off WiFi, thinking may be WiFi is interfering with something.

So tried with mobile network on Brave and Chrome, still no luck.

It is still frozen in the same place.

I would recommend skipping further troubleshooting and opening a GitHub Education support ticket with the screenshot you shared. Include the fact that the application consistently stops at "Getting location..." across multiple devices and networks.

That information should help the Education team identify whether there is a problem with the location verification service or your application.

it sounds like the issue is occurring during the Education application's location verification step rather than being caused by your local setup.

A few additional things you could try:

• Ensure Location Services/GPS permissions are enabled for the browser.
• Temporarily disable VPNs, privacy extensions, or strict tracking protection settings.
• Try opening the page in an Incognito/Private window.
• Clear site data for education.github.com and retry.

If the page still remains stuck on "Getting location...", there may be a temporary issue with the location service itself. In that case, opening a GitHub Education support request and attaching screenshots would be the best next step, since this is likely account- or service-specific.
