Question about archived repositories "GitLab Community Edition v17.5.5"

Hi all,

we are using GitLab Community Edition 17.5.5 and we have a question regarding repository archiving.

When a project/repository is marked as "archived":

• is it kept indefinitely by GitLab?
• or is there any automatic cleanup/retention policy that could delete it after a certain period?

From our understanding, archiving only makes the repository read-only, but does not affect its lifecycle.

Could you please confirm if archived repositories are preserved forever unless manually deleted?
