Hi everyone,

Subject: Existing Copilot Edu User – Previously Had Access to Premium Models, Now Locked

Hello GitHub Education Team,

I am a verified GitHub Education student and currently have active Education benefits on my account.

Account Information

• GitHub Username: Ayushweb24
• Education Status: Verified
• Current Copilot Plan: Copilot Edu
• Current GitHub Base Plan: GitHub Pro
• Education Benefits Expiry: November 27, 2027

Issue

My GitHub Education benefits are active and Copilot Edu is successfully enabled on my account. However, several premium AI models are now locked and display the message:

"Model locked. Upgrade to Copilot Pro to access this model."

The locked models include:

• Claude Sonnet 4.5
• Claude Opus 4.8
• GPT-5.4
• GPT-5.5
• GPT-5.3 Codex

Currently, I only have access to:

• GPT-5 Mini
• GPT-5.4 Mini
• Claude Haiku 4.5

The main reason I am contacting support is that I had access to some of these premium models previously and was actively using them through my GitHub Education entitlement before they became locked.

My account is not a new Copilot Student signup. I have been a verified GitHub Education user for a long time and had Copilot Edu active before the recent Copilot Student/Edu changes.

Because I was previously able to use these models, I would like clarification regarding:

1. Was my account automatically migrated to a different Copilot Student/Edu tier?
2. Are existing Education users expected to lose access to models they previously had access to?
3. Is the current restriction on my account intentional?
4. Has there been any change to my Education entitlement?
5. Can you review my account and confirm whether my current model access is correct?

I have attached screenshots showing:

• Verified Education benefits
• Active Copilot Edu subscription
• Licensing information
• Model picker with locked premium models

I would appreciate clarification regarding why models that were previously available on my account are now locked despite having an active Copilot Edu subscription and valid Education benefits.
