Verification Help & Guidance
Hi everyone,
Hello,
My GitHub Education application was rejected because GitHub could not verify my academic status and because I was not physically located near my university campus.
I would like to provide additional context regarding my situation.
I am currently enrolled as a full-time PhD student at the University of Tlemcen, Algeria. In our doctoral program, formal coursework is only required during the first year. After completing the theoretical coursework, PhD candidates focus primarily on research activities, scientific publications, and participation in academic conferences. Therefore, regular physical attendance on campus is generally not required during the research phase of the doctorate.
As a doctoral researcher, my academic progress is evaluated through research output rather than classroom attendance. To complete my PhD, I am required to conduct research, publish scientific papers in Ministry-classified journals (Category A or B), and participate in international scientific conferences.
For this reason, I have no academic obligation to remain physically present at the university on a daily basis after completing the first year of coursework. I currently work in the public healthcare sector in Algeria, and whenever university-related administrative procedures, meetings with my supervisor, defenses, or academic requirements arise, I follow the official procedures and travel to the university as needed.
I believe this explains why my current location may be far from the University of Tlemcen campus. My physical distance from the campus should not be interpreted as evidence that I am no longer an active student, as research-based doctoral programs operate differently from undergraduate studies.
To further demonstrate my active research status, here are some of my academic profiles and publications:
IEEE Publication:
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10536757/
Google Scholar:
https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=p_ohtygAAAAJ&hl=en
ORCID:
https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0204-0658
I am willing to provide any additional enrollment certificates, student status documents, doctoral registration records, supervisor attestations, or other official university documents that may help verify my academic status.
Thank you for your time and consideration
