Unable to verify, possibly due to my uncommon name

Hi everyone,

Hi,

So my full first name is Jean Luis and my last name is Urena, however it seems the Github Education application is not picking this up. I keep getting the following errors:

• Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your last name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields of your GitHub billing information.
• Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your first name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information. Variations of your name and nicknames are unacceptable.

Some other unfortunate things:

• My unofficial transcript does not contain the school name, rather it contains University ID
• My Billing Statement from Spring semester contains the school initials but I do not have Fall billing statement because it hasn't started yet.

How do I get around this?

Hi @jlurena,

Add Luis in the first name field on your billing information, then log out and log back into GitHub before submitting a new application, also make sure the academic proof contains a current date that proves your current student status,, e.g. "DD/MM/YYYY".

Note that "Documents that prove your current student status include a picture of your school ID with current enrollment date, class schedule, transcript, and affiliation or enrollment verification letter.". So you can try with any of the above documents and anything that can prove your current student status. Also if your documents doesn't contain your full name you might have to change the billing information
