Hi everyone,

When applying for GitHub Education, we want to upload a jpg file taken in document mode beforehand instead of taking it directly in the application form, but is that impossible?

hey twaga 👋.
unfortunately yes ,,, github's education application requires you to use the in-app camera capture directly.it doesnt accept pre-taken photos or file uploads(no jpg / png file picker).this is intentional ,the system is designed to capture the document live to reduce manipulation concerns.

the good news is you can stilll get a clean result,,,,just make sure when using the in-app camera :

• good even lighting, no flash.
• document flat on a dark surface .
• shoot straight down, no angle,
• all text clearly readable before capturing.

if you're on desktop, the application may open your webcam,,,,,,,,,in that case, displaying your document PDF on a second screen and capturing that with your webcam sometimes gives cleaner results than photographing a printed page.
