Hi everyone,

I'm trying to apply for github student developer pack from an hour or two and this github application is repeatedly getting rejected. Even after providing a clear legible photo of my transcript and even spoofing the location once due constant rejection and due to ongoing summer break and it being physically impossible to be at my campus at this current time.

Hi @akattri,

Stop using VPNs or location spoofers. GitHub's system detects them and auto-rejects you for fraud.

Do this instead:

1. Wait 24–48 hours — your account is flagged from too many attempts.
2. Apply from your real home location with your real IP. No VPNs, no proxies. GitHub knows students go home for summer.
3. Use your phone camera to take a clear photo of your student ID, transcript, or tuition receipt. Don't use screenshots.
4. Make sure your GitHub profile name matches your school documents exactly.

If it still fails after that: Contact GitHub Education Support directly and explain you're on summer break.

a few things going on here,,, let me break them down :

on the location spoofing.
i'd strongly recommend stopping this,,, VPN / location spoofing gets detected by github's system and actuallly makes things worse.it adds a "location mismatch detected" flag on top of whatever else is causing the rejection,and repeated spoofed attempts can put your account into a stricter review queue. the system knows.

the summer break / distance from campus issue.
this is a legitimate problem and there's a proper way to handle it ,,,when reapplying, look for the option "My selected school has incorrect or incomplete information e.g. domains or campus location" and explain that you're a remote/ distance student or that it's summer break and you're not physically on campus . this routes your application differently rather than just gettting auto-rejected on location.

on the transcript.
transcripts can be tricky for the OCR,,make sure :

• your full name on the transcript matches your github billing AND profile name exactly.
• the transcript showss a current/recent enrollment period with clear dates ,,, summer break transcripts sometimes only show past completed terms, not active enrollment,
• university's full official name is visible(not just a logo or abbreviation).

wait 7 days before your next attempt,,,,,,,you've applied multiple times in the last hour or two which will trigger rate-limiting on top of everything else.
