Hello , My name is Yasin and i have recently deleted my repository , now i regret and i dont know how to restore them , Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee help me

Hi Yasin,

Don't panic yet—repository recovery may still be possible depending on how recently it was deleted.

A few questions:

1. Was the repository:

   • Personal, or
   • Owned by an organization?

2. Approximately when was it deleted?

3. Was it:

   • Public, or
   • Private?

If the repository was deleted recently, try checking:

Settings → Repositories → Deleted repositories

or visit:

https://github.com/settings/repositories

GitHub sometimes provides a restore option for recently deleted repositories.

If you cannot find a restore option, I recommend contacting GitHub Support as soon as possible and providing:

• The repository name
• The repository owner (username or organization)
• The approximate deletion date and time

The sooner you contact support, the better the chances of recovery.

Also, if you ever cloned the repository locally, you may still have a complete copy on your computer. In that case, even if GitHub cannot restore it, you can create a new repository and push the local copy back to GitHub.

Can you share:

• The repository name?
• Whether it was personal or organizational?
• How long ago it was deleted?

That will help determine the best recovery path.

If the repository was deleted recently, you may be able to restore it.

Try the following:

1. Go to Settings on GitHub.
2. Navigate to Repositories (if available for your account).
3. Look for a Recently Deleted Repositories section.

If the repository is eligible for restoration, GitHub should provide a restore option.

If you cannot find the repository there, check:

• Whether the repository belonged to a personal account or an organization.
• Whether you were the owner or had admin permissions.
• How long ago the repository was deleted.

If the repository is not available for self-service restoration, you should contact GitHub Support as soon as possible and provide:

• Repository name
• Repository owner/organization
• Approximate deletion date
• Your GitHub username

The sooner you contact support, the better the chances of recovering recently deleted content.

Unfortunately, once a repository is deleted on GitHub, it cannot be restored directly from the GitHub interface. Deletion is permanent and GitHub does not provide a native “undo” option.

What you can try:

1. If you had the repo cloned locally on your computer, you can push it again to a new repository — this will restore all code and commit history.
2. If collaborators had forks or clones, ask them to share a copy so you can recreate the repo.
3. If you only need specific files, check your local machine or backups for those files and upload them to a new repo.
4. For future safety, consider enabling repository archiving instead of deletion, or use backups before removing a repo.

In short: GitHub cannot restore deleted repositories, but you can recreate it from any local clone or backup you still have.
