Hi everyone,

I am studying in a Spanish University (UOC), but online version ... I am living in Belgium but I'm currently studying at a Spanish university. My application for the Developer Kit for Students is being rejected.

I don't know if it's because:

1. I'm using a VPN because I'm living in another country.
2. The document is illegible (I've attached it here).

How to procee?

Do you have a digital student ID card? You could try using that instead of this document if it clearly shows your name and current student status.

My application was also rejected at first, but it was accepted after I reapplied using my student ID card. However, my university is not online, so your situation may be different.

Is there a way to upload the documents without using the camera? (It says there's no university name only the logo, but it is on both the ID card and the certificate)...

Hi @GoreMLOuc,

I would reccomend not uploading the documents publicly here, or redact personal information first, because it contain personal/student information.

For GitHub Education verification, I believe the upload flow normally expects a live camera/photo rather than a direct PDF upload. If it is saying the university name is missing, try taking one clear photo/screenshot where the full university name is visible as text, not just the logo.

Your enrolment certificate is probably the strongest document, because it shows current enrolment and that the study mode is virtual. I would try capturing that document clearly, making sure the university name, your name, current academic dates and virtual/online study line are all visible in the same image.

Also, reapply with the VPN turned off and allow browser location access. Since you study online in Spain but live in Belgium, if it still fails, I would contact GitHub Education Support and explain that you are a UOC distance-learning student living outside Spain.

What is the Github Education Support? do you know the email?

GitHub Education Support is contacted through the GitHub Support portal rather than a public email address.

Go to the GitHub Support page while signed in, then choose the option closest to GitHub Education or account verification. Include the rejection message and explain that you are enrolled at UOC as an online student while living in Belgium.

You can also use the “Contact support” link in the GitHub Education portal. Make sure you do not upload personal documents publicly in this discussion.
