I wasn't exactly sure where to put this and I can't really open a ticket because I don't pay for anything GitHub so I'm putting it here.

I've been experiencing terrible cloning speeds from GitHub repositories since yesterday and I have no idea what I can do to make it go back to normal.

This may be a temporary network/routing issue between your ISP and GitHub, especially if it started suddenly and affects all repositories.

You can try a few checks:

1. Test cloning from another network or mobile hotspot.
2. Check GitHub Status to see if there are any ongoing incidents.
3. Try cloning with SSH instead of HTTPS, or HTTPS instead of SSH.
4. Run git clone --depth=1 <repo-url> to check if shallow cloning is faster.
5. Clear DNS cache or try a different DNS provider.
6. If only GitHub is slow, share your github-debug.com results with GitHub Support or in the discussion so they can check routing/CDN issues.

Since the issue started recently and affects cloning speed generally, it is likely not caused by your local Git setup alone.

Thanks and I appreciate the help, but it turns out none of these helped. It was my own router that was causing the issue.
