Hi GitHub Community,

We have a GitHub Marketplace app that was originally published under the name solve-bug.

The app has since been rebranded to FixBugs, and the Marketplace listing now displays the updated product name. However, the public Marketplace URL still uses the old slug:

https://github.com/marketplace/solve-bug

We’d like to update the Marketplace URL to match the current brand, ideally to something like:

https://github.com/marketplace/fixbugs

I couldn’t find a self-serve setting in the GitHub App or Marketplace listing settings to edit the Marketplace URL slug.

A few questions:

• Is it possible to change the Marketplace URL slug for an already-published GitHub Marketplace app?
• If yes, does this require GitHub Support / Marketplace team intervention?
• Is there a recommended path that preserves the existing app listing, installations, approvals, and Marketplace continuity?

We’d like to avoid delisting and recreating the app, since the current listing is already published and used by customers.

1. Does this require GitHub Support intervention?
_Yes, absolutely. If a slug change is to happen without deleting the app, it can only be done by GitHub’s backend engineering or Marketplace operations team

The "Cosmetic" Approach (Recommended)
This is the safest path and the one most companies take when GitHub Support denies a slug change.

• Keep the URL as solve-bug.
• Ensure that your GitHub App Name, Marketplace Listing Name, Logo, and Descriptions are entirely updated to FixBugs.
• The vast majority of users discover apps by searching the Marketplace UI or clicking a direct link from your website (fixbugs.ai). When they land on the page, the giant header says "FixBugs." Very few users actually scrutinise the github.com/marketplace/... URL slug in their browser address bar. This guarantees 100% preservation of your current user base with zero downtime or broken billing.
