Hi everyone,

Hello,

I am applying for GitHub Education as a student from India.

My legal name on all my official documents and my college ID is Prajwal S.

My application is rejected with the message:

"Please ensure that your academic affiliation document contains your last name exactly as it appears in your GitHub billing information."

The problem is that GitHub Billing does not allow me to enter a one-letter last name (S).

I have tried different name combinations, but they are rejected because they no longer match my official documents.

How should students whose legal surname is a single letter complete the GitHub Education verification process?

GitHub Education verification requires that the name on your academic document exactly matches the name in your GitHub billing profile. If your legal surname is a single letter (for example, "S") and GitHub Billing does not allow a one-letter last name, there is no user-side workaround that both satisfies the billing validation and preserves an exact legal-name match.

The correct solution is to contact GitHub Support and explain that your legal surname is a single character, which is common in some countries (including India). Include:

• A screenshot of the billing form showing that a one-letter surname cannot be entered.
• Your student ID or other official academic document showing your legal name.
• The rejection message from the Education application.

Ask GitHub Support to either manually verify your application or advise the correct billing-name format for single-letter surnames. Avoid changing your legal name or using unofficial variations, as this may cause verification to fail again.

I tried to contact them by raising ticket but im having issues with that please look into the screenshot. in that Individual manual reviews and status updates are no longer provided. How can i contact them?
