Today I lost connection from all Copilot plugins
GitHub Copilot could not connect to server. Extension activation failed: "Contact Support"
Invalid copilot token: missing token: 403

logged out while I worked
All suggestions with logout/login not helped to me

PREVIOUSLY:

1. Considering it's mostly Ukrainian users having problems.
2. And I've been able to auth just fine under VPN

It looks like Copilot got blocked for Ukraine IPs for some reason :(

I guess they implemented the same restrictions that OpenAI already had in place.

additional info that may or may not have helped... I also disabled the git from my vscode since it was associated with a different account. I set the git.enabled = false

1. Buy the cheapest vps in the country where copilot works fine
2. Install the shadowsocks server on it
3. Install the shadowsocks client on your computer with HTTP(S) setup
4. Configure vscode:

Socks does not work with vscode correctly. The shadowsocks client (Shadowsocks-Qt5) allows you to configure a port locally that works over http, and then it forwards everything to the server over socks. This configuration correct and works for me right now.

On my server i used squid to create proxy server. And i dont need install any programs on pc and i can to connect via
"http.proxy": "http://user:pass@ip:port"

I'd like to add if you're using shadowsocks-libev it creates socks5 proxy (not http), so setting "http.proxy": "http://127.0.0.1:1080" in vs code will not work.

I fixed it by using additional proxy pproxy https://pypi.org/project/pproxy/ that tunnels socks5 proxy to http proxy: pproxy -l http://127.0.0.1:1080 -r socks5://127.0.0.1:10877 , where socks5://127.0.0.1:10877 is shadowsocks proxy and http://127.0.0.1:1080 is result http proxy that I put into vs code settings.

I have a few questions regarding the decision to restrict Copilot in trade-restricted countries. As a user, I'm curious to know why this restriction is necessary, especially during the trial period. Can you please shed some light on the rationale behind this decision?

Additionally, as an open-source platform, GitHub has always advocated for community spirit and free usage of its tools. Is it not against this spirit to restrict the usage of a tool like Copilot in certain countries? I would appreciate it if you could provide some clarity on this as well.

I encountered the same issue, and I uninstalled the GitHub Copilot extension, then installed GitHub Copilot Nightly instead, and it worked.
Not sure about the difference between the two.

You don't have access to GitHub Copilot.

So, you guys provide a tool and it doesn't even work, and this problem has been going on for a while now. Logging in and out doesn't work, reinstalling doesn't help either, and then you want to charge $10 for it. As long as something like this doesn't work properly, develop it properly, especially for a service that is also free. It didn't even work on the first login, and then you can see that the problem has been going on since November.
