EDIT: PREVIOUSLY:
It looks like Copilot got blocked for Ukraine IPs for some reason :( I guess they implemented the same restrictions that OpenAI already had in place. |

I am from Iran and get this error: As a result of our advocacy and hard work with U.S. regulators, GitHub has secured a license from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to restore our cloud services to developers in Iran. And we will continue to work with U.S. regulators to secure similar licenses to offer collaboration services to developers in other sanctioned regions, such as Syria and Crimea. We are committed to advocating for the broadest possible developer access, as we believe offering code collaboration services for developers in sanctioned regions makes the global developer community stronger, advances human progress, and supports the enduring U.S. foreign policy of promoting free speech and the free flow of information. For information about the license we secured for developers in Iran, read the blog post. |

GitHub gave me the following answer: Hello Ali, Thanks for writing us today, and sorry for the difficulty you're experiencing. I'm afraid that due to current trade controls, your GitHub account cannot make use of Copilot. While GitHub obtained a license in 2021 to provide cloud services to Iranian users, Copilot is not included in the scope of this license. I'm sorry if that wasn't what you were hoping to hear. We want every developer to be able to collaborate on GitHub, and are undertaking efforts to increase Copilot availability around the world, so please know that GitHub will continue to advocate for the right of developers in trade-restricted regions to access tools for code collaboration and communication. Regards, |

GitHub Next also says that I have no access to Copilot $ github-copilot-cli auth
Copy this code: XXXX-XXXX
Then press any key to launch the authorization page, paste the code in and approve the access.
Failed to authenticate: GitHub Copilot access is required to use this CLI. Please sign up at https://github.com/features/copilot. But in my settings it says that I am eligible to use GitHub Copilot for free. |

We became aware that Copilot was unavailable in several countries following our efforts to restore access to Ukraine, and on further investigation, we identified the cause as originating from a change we deployed to block Copilot in trade-restricted countries. To prevent this from happening again, we've updated our reporting dashboards to better account for error rates due to trade restrictions and are implementing more robust testing of the trade restriction logic. |

For those who use copilot with vscode and have two active GitHub accounts, you need to SignOut from other account and restart vscode to fix "Invalid copilot token: missing token: 403" issue |

[INFO] [auth] [2023-04-12T12:43:19.812Z] Invalid copilot token: missing token: 403 So, you guys provide a tool and it doesn't even work, and this problem has been going on for a while now. Logging in and out doesn't work, reinstalling doesn't help either, and then you want to charge $10 for it. As long as something like this doesn't work properly, develop it properly, especially for a service that is also free. It didn't even work on the first login, and then you can see that the problem has been going on since November. |
