I think having them released on GitHub so you can download the APK from obtanium using github releases (even though obtanium can also download from F-Droid) would be better due to some F-Droid security flaws but it's mostly a personally preference.

As much as I love F-Droid I have to agree though I don't see a problem with listing on F-Droid if possible. The security issue is moot in my book as I don't thoroughly examine every apps code and mostly rely on community audits unless I'm trying to dissect a project for some reason.

The official F-Droid repository disallows any proprietary code or libraries, meaning that anything downloaded from F-Droid is essentially guaranteed to be free of any proprietary components (such as Google Play Services), giving users (myself included) strong peace of mind, as long as you trust the F-Droid team (which personally, I do).

This matters to me a lot since I am a strong believer & advocate for free (libre/FOSS) software.
I strongly prefer obtaining apps through F-Droid rather than through GitHub (or other sources).

In the end, people can still choose where they wish to obtain the app from, you're simply offering users an additional choice.

I would still prefer Obtanium+Github releases (due to the F-Droid security flaws I mentioned above) as the Github releases could also come without proprietary code or libraries in which it does not make F-Droid unique in any way and also i personally prefer not to have F-Droid as a middleman between me and the apps I want to download as they are the ones who got into drama for marking a bible app as NSFW which I think is stupid lol (I think they might have changed/fixed that now).

But if it got released on both Github and F-Droid then I think that'd be totally fine and would possibly increase the reach to the potential target audience of Fluxer.👍

Does anyone know how long until the Android app gets released? Sorry if there is a better channel I could ask this on like a Flucer server but I haven't really been using Fluxer as I'm waiting for the Android app before I start using it on a regular basis.

I will send a message that was sent in the Platform News channel of Fluxer HQ:

A mobile app you seek? Well look no further, for I come bearing tidings of our launch information.

Our mobile launch is coming in 3 waves:

• An Alpha launch for our early supporters: Monday May 18th

• A Beta launch for our plutonium users: 3-4 weeks after that

• A public stable release 3-4 weeks after that.

Those final two dates are somewhat in flux (expect them to be pushed back). Timings depend on what bugs are found and how much there is to do.

There has been concern about why we are staggering it like this, so I want to address a few points.

• At the time of the plutonium beta, we plan to open source the code for any user who wants to build it themselves. We are not providing builds because candidly, it wouldn't reach our bar for calling it a "stable" launch.

We feel it's better to not offer an easy first party experience for new users to fluxer besides the PWA, than to give them a half finished one and have newbies bounce off. Most folks in here are techy. Your tolerance for half-finished products is higher than the average person. We need to balance our existing base with a prospective userbase.

• Our visionary launch is nowhere near a complete experience. We expect a lot of bugs and less than 1/3 of "stable" features will be present.

We are super excited to get this into the hands of users. Thank you all for your patience thus far <3 Your support means the world to us.
