Describe the feature

I would like to be able to place calls in between devices like an Alexa Drop-in.

You can have the command be keyword device.

The flow could be:

the command is given, If "all devices" or similar is given, an extra step of ringing on all devices except the one you're using, and someone picking up with a command on the other device is needed.
the conversation would pause,
the two-way call would start,
the call would finish when the wake word was detected, or Assist was activated in some other way,
the end call command is given.

An additional feature would be that you can call on other Home Assistant instances by connecting them. In case you have a HA in your house and in your business or your other family has one.

Example commands

"Ok Nabu, contact Tom's Companion App"

"Ok Nabu, end contact",

In the other room:

- It rings.

Use cases

This would help in multiple ways, for example, if there was an emergency, you would be able to contact someone very easily in your house. You could also contact someone from the other side of your house easier without needing to call them on the phone or leave what you are doing. You can talk to your dogs while you are away and so much more.

If you had the extra feature, you can call family, your business, anyone that you trust all while controlling your data and info in an easy and convenient way.

Anything else?

This would make HA incredibly convenient to contact and talk to your house or wherever you use HA.

I did not know if this would be better combined with the VoIP integration and the ability to have your Assist start and answer 2-way calls so you can talk through your Assist to the person calling or called but,
I believe this should be default behavior even if you don't have a VoIP setup, even though it would pair nicely with it.

It would also be good if this could be used as a gate intercom. The HAVPE would work well inside an enclosure at the gate, along with a separate button that could be used to start the intercom call. Visitors would push a button to start the call and someone in the house could then answer the call and use HA to open the gates.

Another use could be a baby monitor. You could have an automation that starts a call at a certain time with an assistant close to you and end the call automatically at another time. That way you know it will be on when you need it.
