Hey,
last time I checked id3v2.4 was not officially supported despite being the latest version for over 25 years now and the de facto standard for MP3 files. it is implemented somewhat but it's pretty broken. I already reported that a loooong time ago but ultimately nobody answered anymore, the report was closed as not planned and is locked now.
I was wondering, if you don't want ID3v2.4, why is that? Because the only way to deal with it now would be to convert all files into an older inferior tagformat from the 90s, just for Music Assistant alone (potentially breaking compatibility with apps that do not rely on ancient tag formats like MA does) OR deal with the missing tags. I couldn't find a single app that doesn't support it, even good old Mopidy does. It is Music Assistant aaaall alone.
I don't mean to be mean or something, I am just trying to get attention to this glaring issue out of desperation. I am still extremely flabbergasted by this decision and I would even pay for a fix, because all possible workarounds involve massive downsides.
Another question that comes to mind: If I ultimately decide to invest many hours in fixing it myself, would you accept a PR or do you explicitly do not want ID3v2.4 support? Because that is what it looks like according to my report.
Thanks guys 💚✌️
