Describe your idea
2 different purges (possibly adjustable) for sensors that record e.g. 1 year and 1 for e.g. 30 days.
This prevents small hard drives from quickly becoming full of junk data and also prevents backups from being smaller and faster. This would also make saving and restoring backups much easier.
Why is this exciting?
Newcomers with small hard drives would benefit from this
For advanced users and professionals, the data waste would be much smaller because they usually have a lot of sensors and could make it more flexible.
There is more memory left for important things
Potential use cases
You could record long-term data such as meter readings, temperature sensors or similar for 1 year
Data that is only statistical for the day or month is only recorded briefly.
