AndroidTV Party Mode?

I cast to AndroidTV using SpendSpin, but that doesn't support the new QR code / Karaoke features in Party Mode.

How do you guys get Party mode interface on your AndroidTV device? I don't see an MA app or a web browser (which would work for a mobile device but not TV)

You can always access the frontend via a browser. The Android app is under development .

edit: Are you sure you can’t have a browser on your TV?

Yeah, I tried pulling browser from another device but it complains about a shared library not being installed (not clear how to pull that).

Probably not worth the effort, if a native Android app is in development already.

By the way- is the local browser supposed to stop presenting itself as a Player if you switch to Party mode? Or is that a bug?

The android app is available for sideloading here. https://github.com/music-assistant/mobile-app I am not sure if party mode is supported on it yet?

I’m not sure about your last question. What exactly are you doing and what are you seeing?

Nice, thank you- it does open but it was really hard to navigate to the app. Can we please make minimal changes shown here so that the app shows up with the other Android TV apps without having to dig through Settings menus? In case it matters, the Shield TV devices use Android 11 (SDK version 30) so if you guys ever upgrade to an SDK newer than 30 it will break for Shield TV

Edit: The native app is buggy on TV, if you add its Player to a Sendspin group, the app will minimize and its Player stops producing audio after a few moments. Also in the Players selection screen, the up/down remote buttons move the volume slider unexpectedly

What exactly are you doing and what are you seeing?

When I open MA on my laptop browser, I see "Web (Chrome for Windows)" as a player which makes music play through the browser. BUT, if I then open Party mode, suddenly that player disappears. I no longer see "Web (Chrome for Windows)". As soon as I exit Party mode, the player comes back

What you can also do is share a Chrome browser tab to the TV

Yes, however it introduces a noticeable sync delay when part of a Sendspin group with other players

Apologies, assumed this "discussions" section is for Q&A, and "Issues" is for bug reporting. Also, it's really not related to the topic of this discussion (AndroidTV support) so I thought it really needed its own thread. That Issue happens even without AndroidTV involved
