Monthly releases and use in production

Hi, as a follow-up to ticket https://github.com/orgs/openthread/discussions/13113

So these new tagged releases such as v2026.06.0 are monthly releases...

What level of testing have they undergone, and should I use them for production releases? Currently using the last tag "thread-reference-20250612". Should I update to this latest tag, or stay on thread-reference-20250612 for production?

If you are integrating OpenThread directly, we generally recommend that you update to the latest commit.

Silicon vendors integrating OpenThread into their own releases will typically perform their own additional testing - typically Thread Component Certification testing and maybe more - which incorporate their radios and platform drivers.

We're building ot-br-posix with the aim of certification and stabile production deployment. i.e. we don't aim to update again anytime soon.

We need a good tag/commit to lock in for ot-br-posix - what do you recommend? And should we stay with the openthread gitref pinned by that, or go with latest openthread commit, or something else (aim is openthread 1.4)?
