Both Prime and Essential Hub not showing on Pybricks

This is a hard one.

I am trying to install pybricks firmware on my hubs. The very first time I plugged in the Essential Hub (following instructions carefully), there was a system alert/dialogue that appeared in the bottom-right corner of the screen. I didn't see the contents, and it disappeared (I saw the word Lego). But since then, however, the system just ignores the USB device altogether like a ghost device.

Since then, I updated the system, changed the USB cable, and switched to a new Prime hub. Finally, I uninstalled all devices in "other devices" and started over-- same thing.

The Lego device is not showing up on the Device Manager at all. I didn't even have a chance to install the driver. I also clicked "show hidden devices" and couldn't find Lego.

Help please! Anyone solved anything like this before?

If it doesn't show up at all and the hub is powered on, either you have a bad cable or you have a version of Pybricks firmware installed and running that doesn't have USB support.

Make sure the Bluetooth light on the hub is blinking red/green/blue to be sure that the hub is in DFU mode. Then look for it in the device manager. It could be in a different place depending on which driver, if any, is installed.
