A few places in the code check for optional dependencies. If missing, the error suggests "use pip or conda to install" the dependency.

Although it was almost essential for a few years, I and many people I know have moved on from conda, preferring plain old venv/pip or something like poetry or uv for managing Python projects.
Maybe the error message should move on too? Suggestion: "...use pip, conda, or your preferred package management tool to install..."
