I like to not configure my vim too much. That way it behaves like other people’s vim.
This vimrc has grown and shrunk since 2015. It has stabilised to a small
vimrc that contains only the bare necessities
- Setting filetype-dependant tabs and indentation behavior
- Configure filetype-dependant hard-wrapping and soft-wrapping behavior
- plugins
vim-markdown-folding,vim-orgmode,powerline - Minor extras
After having shrunk, I did add some nice extras
git clone --recursive https://github.com/philippecarphin/dot-vim ~/.vim
ln -s ~/.vim/vimrc ~/.vimrc
If we forget the --recursive when we clone, we can run this later at any time.
git submodule update --init --recursive
Just start vim.
The file vimconfig.org is the source of this vimrc.
It contains text describing the various options that I use.
The file doc/vimrc.revealjs.html is that same vimconfig.org file exported to
a Reveal.js presentation using org-reveal.
