Code Formatter

Description

Many languages such as Golang, Rust and Dartlang to name a few have built in formatters in their CLI to format the code to keep it consistent and to a standard. Now even JavaScript runtimes such as Deno and Bun have formatting options.

Please consider adding an official formatting feature built into PHP which can be maintained with future version of PHP when new syntax is introduced to the language.

Why? There are so many userland solutions, they are fast, they work well, and they have the liberty to be opinionated. Anyway, this is not a technical but political discussion, and GitHub is not the right place for that. Please send an e-mail to the internals mailing list if you'd like some other opinions.

And thanks for the suggestion nonetheless 🙂 My message was a bit blunt. But as mentioned, such decisions really should be made by the community but the community doesn't look at the bug tracker.
