Hi! I think plausible is a great service, but I think the "privacy" part is lacking a bit when it comes to city level data. Say I know a user is in a certain country, for example Romania. If I send them a link to my website and I get one visit from Romaina, I now know specifically where in Romania they are and also which operating system, browser, and type of device they are using. I've seen other companies have a strategy where they won't show analytics if the number of users from a region is less than some number, lets say 10 users from the same city, so user data isn't so easily leaked.
But I understand that this was a very popular feature request and is very useful for some companies. But for others (me), I cannot with a good conscience make my analytics site public when it contains rather personal data such as city & device information for specific users.
So my feature request is to give us the option to disable city-level data and only show country (and maybe even another option to disable the location data altogether as well). For me personally that data is not useful. One of the top rated comments in the original request also voiced this concern, though it was seemingly never considered:
Being a privacy-focused analytics service I think this seems like a very reasonable feature to have for pretty much every single point of data that is collected by plausible, but perhaps that's out of the scope of this specific feature request. I just want to remove the city level data. I understand if they have to be enabled by default, but a possibility to opt out would be fantastic.
